Prepare for Ghana

Practical steps for a confident volunteer arrival

Before you travel

Prepare for your Daakyepa experience

Use this checklist as a starting point, then confirm your program dates, health requirements, arrival arrangements, and documents with the Daakyepa team.

Documents

Check your passport validity, entry requirements, visa needs, flight details, insurance, and emergency contacts. Keep digital and printed copies.

Health

Speak with a qualified travel-health professional about vaccinations, medication, insurance, and any health needs before departure.

Packing

Bring comfortable, modest clothing, closed-toe shoes, sun protection, personal essentials, and clothing suited to practical community activities.

Your preparation checklist

  • Confirm your program, arrival date, departure date, and accommodation arrangements.
  • Share your flight information and a reachable emergency contact with the team.
  • Arrange comprehensive travel insurance that includes medical treatment and repatriation.
  • Ask about dietary, accessibility, medication, or other support needs before arrival.
  • Save the Daakyepa contact details and Ghana emergency number 112 on your phone.
  • Read the Safety & Health page and review the volunteer house expectations.

When you arrive

Follow the airport meeting instructions provided by the Daakyepa team and let your emergency contact know you have arrived safely. During orientation, ask questions about transport, project expectations, house rules, communication, and local safety.

Keep your passport, insurance details, medication, and phone charged. Use trusted transport and follow local guidance throughout your stay.
